How to Treat Painful and Stubborn Cystic Acne

1. Warm Compress to Open Pores
Apply a compress using a clean cloth soaked in warm water for 10–15 minutes, twice a day. The warmth helps bring pus closer to the surface without damaging the tissue.

2. Apply 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide
Benzoyl peroxide kills acne-causing bacteria and dries out inflammation. Do not use more than 5% as it may cause irritation instead.

3. Don’t Touch, Don’t Squeeze
Squeezing cystic acne will only spread the infection to the surrounding tissue and leave behind dark marks that are difficult to fade.

4. Use a Hydrocolloid Patch (Acne Patch)
Patches specifically for cystic acne absorb fluid and protect against germs. Leave it on overnight; by morning, the size of the acne will have reduced.

5. Reduce Dairy and Sugar for One Week
Dairy products and high sugar intake trigger the hormone IGF-1, which worsens acne. Try replacing cow’s milk with almond milk.

6. If It Doesn’t Heal, See a Dermatologist
A doctor can inject cortisone directly into the acne. Within 24–48 hours, the inflammation will go down dramatically. This is a solution for emergency cases before important events.
