Treating Dark Acne Scars (Hyperpigmentation)

1. Sunscreen Every Day Without Exception
UV rays make dark spots darker and slower to fade. Use SPF 30 every morning, even when indoors.

2. Vitamin C Serum in the Morning
Vitamin C inhibits excess melanin production. Choose a serum with 10–20% concentration, use before sunscreen.

3. Niacinamide or Azelaic Acid at Night
Both slow down pigment transfer to new skin cells. Azelaic acid is also anti-inflammatory, suitable for red acne scars still in the healing stage.

4. Retinol 1–2 Times a Week (If Not Pregnant)
Retinol accelerates skin cell regeneration. Start with a low concentration (0.25%) to avoid irritation. Your skin may peel slightly—that’s normal.

5. Chemical Exfoliation with AHA (Glycolic Acid)
AHA removes pigmented dead skin cells. Use 1–2 times a week, do not combine with retinol.

6. Be Patient, the Process Takes 8–12 Weeks
Dark spots won’t disappear in 3 days. With consistent care, the color will fade gradually. Don’t give up and keep wearing sunscreen.
