Disadvantages of PVC ceilings:

Flammability: Although PVC ceilings are fire-resistant, it’s still possible for them to catch fire if exposed to fire for a long time.
- Gypsum Ceilings
Advantages of Gypsum ceilings:
Cheaper initial installation costs.
Can change colors if you get bored: Because gypsum ceilings are installed through a painting process, if you’re bored with the existing color, you can repaint it.
Ease of shaping: This advantage isn’t found in many other types of ceilings. Because it’s easy to cut and putty, gypsum ceilings are very easy to shape into desired patterns.
Heat resistance: Because it’s made from naturally occurring mineral deposits, it’s better at managing heat in a room than PVC or GRC (cement board).
Disadvantages of Gypsum Ceilings:
Not water-resistant: If exposed to water, the gypsum ceiling will be damaged.
Mildew-prone: If exposed to water for a long time and not repaired, the gypsum ceiling will develop mold.
Maintenance costs are quite high, especially for homes older than 10 years.
- GRC Ceilings (Cement Board)
Advantages of GRC ceilings (cement board):
Water resistance: Because GRC is made from fine sand, cement, acrylic polymer, and fiberglass, this ceiling is said to be water-resistant.
Fire resistance: GRC ceilings are fire-resistant.
Lower initial installation costs.
Disadvantages of GRC (cement board) ceilings:
Hairline cracks easily form at the joints between the boards: This is a common knowledge among builders and contractors. Due to shrinkage and expansion, GRC (cement board) ceilings often develop hairline cracks.
Still flammable: This material will also burn if exposed to fire for a long enough time.
Still susceptible to weather damage: If exposed to direct heat and rain outside for too long, this material can also become damaged.
